Children & Teens

Nutrition for children and teenagers

Practical support for growth, fussy eating and healthy weight, with the whole family involved.

Children's eating can be a source of worry: fussy eating, poor growth, too many snacks, or concerns about weight. Strict diets are not appropriate for growing children, and pressure at mealtimes often makes things worse.

Hamna works with parents to build calm, practical routines around family meals, school lunches and snacks. Medical concerns, such as poor growth or a diagnosed condition, are managed together with your paediatrician.

Who this is for

This service may be right for you if:

  • Your child is a fussy or selective eater
  • Your paediatrician has raised concerns about growth or weight
  • Your teenager wants guidance on healthy eating, sport or weight
  • Your child has a condition that affects eating, alongside medical care
  • You want healthier family meals and lunchboxes

How assessment works

  1. 01

    Growth

Height and weight history plotted on growth charts, and any medical concerns.

  2. 02

    Eating pattern

Meals, snacks, drinks, school food and fussy eating.

  3. 03

    Family routine

Who cooks, mealtimes, screens and activity.

  4. 04

    Medical background

Conditions, allergies and medicines, with your paediatrician's input.

What your plan includes

  • A family-friendly meal and snack routine
  • Practical strategies for fussy eating without pressure
  • Lunchbox and snack ideas using Pakistani food
  • Healthy weight guidance that never puts children on restrictive diets
  • Age-appropriate advice for teenagers and young athletes

What to expect

You will leave with a clear plan and agreed next steps. A parent or guardian attends with children under 18.

Follow-ups review growth and routines. Medical assessment of growth problems stays with your paediatrician.

Common questions

Will you put my child on a diet?
No. Children are never put on restrictive diets. The focus is on family routines, balanced meals and activity.
My child only eats a few foods. Is that normal?
Fussy eating is common, especially in young children. If it is very restricted or affects growth, your paediatrician should also be involved.
Can teenagers come on their own?
Teenagers are welcome to take part fully; a parent or guardian should attend or consent for those under 18.
Do you see babies for weaning?
Weaning questions can be discussed; complex infant feeding stays with your paediatrician.
