High Cholesterol

Nutrition for high cholesterol

Clear guidance on fats, fibre and everyday Pakistani cooking to support healthier cholesterol levels.

Raised cholesterol or triglycerides usually cause no symptoms, but they increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Diet is one of the main ways to influence them, alongside activity, weight and, where prescribed, medicine.

Hamna looks at your lipid profile and your cooking: the oils and ghee used at home, fried food, fibre and portions. The plan fits family meals, and it works with statins or other medicines, not instead of them.

Who this is for

This service may be right for you if:

  • Your cholesterol, LDL or triglyceride results are raised
  • You have a family history of heart disease
  • You have diabetes, fatty liver or high blood pressure as well
  • You have started a statin and want to support it with diet

How assessment works

  1. 01

    Results and medicines

Lipid profile, other blood tests and medicines.

  2. 02

    Fats and cooking

Ghee, oils, fried and bakery food, how food is cooked at home.

  3. 03

    Fibre and pattern

Whole grains, daal, vegetables, fruit and meal pattern.

  4. 04

    Lifestyle

    Weight, activity and smoking.

What your plan includes

  • Practical fat swaps in Pakistani cooking
  • More soluble fibre from daal, oats, beans, vegetables and fruit
  • Guidance on fried food, bakery items and eating out
  • Weight and activity guidance where relevant
  • Review alongside repeat blood tests

What to expect

You will leave with a clear plan and agreed next steps.

Follow-ups review your progress and next blood tests. Keep taking prescribed medicine unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Common questions

Can diet replace my statin?
No. Diet supports treatment; decisions about medicine stay with your doctor.
Is desi ghee bad for cholesterol?
Ghee is high in saturated fat. The type and amount of fat in your whole diet matters most, and this is discussed for your situation.
Are eggs allowed?
For most people, eggs can be part of a heart-healthy diet. Your overall pattern matters more than one food.
How soon will my results change?
It varies. Repeat tests are usually arranged by your doctor after a few months of changes.
