Gut Health

Nutrition support for gut health

A careful, step-by-step approach to IBS, bloating and other digestive concerns, without unnecessary restriction.

Digestive symptoms such as bloating, pain, constipation or diarrhoea can affect work, sleep and confidence. Many people respond by cutting out more and more foods, which can make eating stressful without solving the problem.

Hamna's approach is structured and evidence-based. It starts with understanding your symptoms and history, then uses targeted changes and, where appropriate, careful reintroduction, so your diet stays as varied as possible.

Who this is for

This service may be right for you if:

  • You have been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • You have ongoing bloating, discomfort or changes in bowel habit
  • You have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and want nutrition support alongside your gastroenterologist's care
  • You have cut out many foods and are unsure what is really causing symptoms
  • You want reliable information about fibre, prebiotics and probiotics

How assessment works

  1. 01

    Symptoms

What you experience, how often, and what seems to make it better or worse.

  2. 02

    Medical background

Diagnoses, tests already done, and medicines or supplements you take.

  3. 03

    Diet and routine

Your usual meals, fibre and fluid intake, meal timing and stress.

  4. 04

    Red flags

Checking for symptoms that should be reviewed by a doctor before nutrition changes.

What your plan includes

  • First-line dietary changes based on your symptoms
  • Where appropriate, a structured elimination and reintroduction approach under guidance
  • Practical advice on fibre, fluids and meal pattern
  • Evidence-based guidance on probiotics and fermented foods
  • A plan to keep your diet as varied as possible

What to expect

A short food and symptom diary before your appointment is helpful but not required.

Gut health plans usually work in stages, so follow-up is important to review symptoms and guide reintroduction.

Research & evidence

Hamna has written a book chapter reviewing the evidence on probiotics in IBS and IBD.

Common questions

Should I see a doctor first?
Yes, if you have not already. Symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, blood in stool, persistent vomiting or symptoms that wake you at night need medical review before dietary changes.
Is this a low FODMAP diet?
A low FODMAP approach may be used where appropriate, but it is not right for everyone and is not meant to be followed long term. Simpler first-line changes are often tried first.
Should I take a probiotic?
It depends on your condition and symptoms. The evidence for probiotics varies by strain and condition, and this will be discussed honestly in your consultation.
Do you offer food intolerance tests?
No. Many commercially available intolerance tests are not supported by good evidence. A structured dietary approach is usually more reliable.
